The Bureau of Industry and Security has posted the following updated schedule for its export control and compliance training outreach efforts:
Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the CBP's electronic system through which the international trade community reports imports and exports to and from the U.S. and the government determines admissibility.
CBP has posted an updated version of its "ACE on the Road" event schedule, which includes the following event:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an updated version of its "ACE Workplan Schedule," which lists the changes and/or fixes to the Automated Commercial Environment (and other systems it interfaces with) scheduled for deployment from September 6 through November 2008.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a general notice containing guidelines for the assessment of claims for liquidated damages and the mitigation of those claims, when participants fail to pay or untimely pay estimated duties and fees under the NCAP test1 for the Periodic Monthly Statement2 payment process.
A number of documents have been posted to the International Trade Data System1 Web site, including one from U.S. Customs and Border Protection that discusses the functionality that will be available to certain ITDS Participating Government Agencies in future Automated Commercial Environment releases2.

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued a notice to inform the public of the new Lacey Act provisions enacted by the 2008 Farm Bill, including the declaration required to be submitted at time of importation for certain plants and plant products that takes effect on December 15, 2008, and APHIS' plan for phasing-in and enforcing this requirement.
On September 30, 2008, President Bush signed into law H.R. 2638, the "Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009" (Public Law 110-329). P.L. 110-329 consists of five sections that provide:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an Automated Commercial Environment "Topic" document on running ACE reports, for all trade users except truck carriers.
The International Trade Data System has issued a press release stating that the power of partnership is becoming more obvious, particularly with respect to the seizure of unsafe products, as the implementation of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment extends to other government agencies.
