U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site a document announcing that effective immediately, carriers who elect to use Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) e-Manifest to transmit in-bond movements to CBP will not be required to provide a paper CBP Form 7512 at the time of arrival into the U.S. or upon arrival at the destination port, if certain information is provided on the e-Manifest cover sheet, as described below.
Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the CBP's electronic system through which the international trade community reports imports and exports to and from the U.S. and the government determines admissibility.
Shippers' NewsWire reports that on December 1, 2006, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is scheduled to electronically distribute to thousands of companies a survey on the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). CBP has posted to its Web site an updated version of its Trade Support Network (TSN) Plenary Session Agenda. According to CBP, the TSN Plenary Session is to be held December 11-13, 2006 in Arlington, VA. CBP has previously stated that it will update documents related to this session and post them to the Web site as revisions are made. On October 4, 2006, the President signed into law Public Law (P.L.) 109-295, the conference version of H.R. 5441, the fiscal year (FY) 2007 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), etc.
CBP has issued an administrative message stating that Electronic Invoice Processing (EIP)/Remote Location Filing (RLF) entries filed using port 2713 (Hueneme) are unable to be processed at this time. CBP states that, until further notice, filers should use port 2713 as the port of unlading, and port 2704 as the port of entry.
