The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a proposed rule that would amend its regulations at 7 CFR Parts 301 and 319 which govern the importation of fruits and vegetables in order to, among other things, expand the number of States in which fresh Hass avocado fruit grown in approved orchards in approved municipalities in Michoacan, Mexico (avocados) may be distributed.
(a) For previously reviewed or investigated companies not listed above, that have separate rates, the cash deposit rate will continue to be the company-specific rate published for the most recent period.
On May 20, 2004 the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee reported its amended version of S. 2279, the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2004. S. 2279 has been placed on the Senate calendar, but no further action has yet been taken.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued messages on a number of antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CV) duty actions, many of which (marked by an * in the action column) were previously published in the Federal Register by the International Trade Administration (ITA) and summarized in International Trade Today.
According to an editorial in The Journal of Commerce, a provision in the Senate's Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2004 (S. 2279) which would assess a fine of $5,000 per bill of lading for cargo left on a pier for more than five days is something that few believe will be included in any maritime security bill that emerges from Congress. Eff 05/25/04 FR Pub 05/24/04 The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has posted to its Web site a list of additional questions it is seeking comments on in connection with a petition it received requesting the imposition of export monitoring and export controls on copper scrap and copper-alloy scrap. This is the second list of questions issued by BIS regarding this request, the first set of questions appeared in BIS' original Federal Register notice announcing receipt of the petition. The ITA states that the China-wide rate applies to all entries of subject merchandise produced in China except for entries from exporter or producers that are identified individually above. The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) submitted comments to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which highlight certain issues it believes should be taken into consideration in drafting the final rules on prior notice of imported food and food facility registration. CBP Announces Upcoming Requirement for ACS Reporting of USDA License Number for HTS 1701.11.20 Sugar According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), as well as U.S. Department of Agriculture sources, CBP will soon require the ACS reporting of the license number for imported sugar classified under HTS 1701.11.20XX (currently only 1701.11.2000). |
