The Bureau of Census (Census) has issued an Automated Export System (AES) Broadcast that, among other things, provides updated information on the requirement for pre-departure filing of export information for shipments to proscribed countries.

The Commerce Department's Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) has issued its Major Shippers Textiles and Apparel Report, which contains selected general import statistics by date of import from the Census Bureau through April 30, 2004 by country and category (including merged and part category).

In the June 9, 2004 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (CBPBulletin) (Vol. 38, No. 24), CBP issued notices (a) modifying a ruling regarding the country of origin marking for imported auto parts that are repackaged in the U.S. for retail sale, (b) modifying two classification rulings on certain multiple switches, and (c) revoking a classification ruling on certain laryngectomy covers. CBP states that it is also modifying or revoking any treatment it has previously accorded to substantially identical transactions that are contrary to its position in notices (a) and (c).
On June 14, 2004, the House Ways and Means Committee approved H.R. 4520, the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, which would, among other things, repeal the Foreign Sales Corporation//Extraterritorial Income Tax (FSC/ETI) regime. According to the Committee, the full House is expected to consider H.R. 4520 during the week of June 14, 2004. The Senate passed its own FSC/ETI repeal legislation (S. 1637), on May 11, 2004.
