Sonos’ fiscal Q3 revenue slipped 1.8% year on year to $371.8 million for the quarter ended July 2, the company said Wednesday. It swung to a net loss of $600,000 vs. net income of $17.8 million in the year-earlier quarter.
PC demand within Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) “is experiencing a short-term challenge, but people recognize the necessity of the PC as a key productivity tool,” said CEO Yang Yuanqing on an earnings call Wednesday for fiscal Q1 ended June 30. The total addressable market for PCs still “is expected to be much higher than pre-pandemic levels in the long term,” he said.

Dolby lowered its full-year fiscal 2022 guidance due to uncertainty in the macroeconomic environment, primarily for the mobile, broadcast and PC markets, said Chief Financial Officer Robert Park on the company’s Tuesday earnings call. The latest full-year revenue guidance is for a “flat” range of $1.27 billion-$1.3 billion, he said, with revenue guidance of $295 million-$325 million for Q4. Revenue for Q3 ended July 1 was up 1% to $289.6 million, at the low end of guidance. Shares closed 4.73% higher Wednesday at $79.08.

Broadcasters want the FCC to allow the ATSC 3.0 substantially similar requirement to sunset and remove other limits on 3.0 broadcasts, but MVPD groups and Public Knowledge say those restrictions must remain to avoid pressure on consumers, according to comments posted Tuesday in docket 16-142.
Warner Music Group CEO Steve Cooper will be “actively in the loop” in the transition process to his successor, he said on a Tuesday earnings call. “We decided to announce a change with a long lead time," to have a "very thorough, thoughtful broad search” with a “diverse group of candidates,” he said. Opinions varied among the comments received in the FCC’s June 22 NPRM on ATSC 3.0, five years into its voluntary deployment (see 2207060019), about whether the technology scored a hit with consumers. There appeared to be consensus in the comments posted Tuesday in docket 16-142 about keeping in place for now the requirement that TV broadcasters transmit their primary 3.0 video streams in compliance with ATSC's A/322 physical layer protocol standard. The A/322 requirement is due to expire March 6 unless the FCC reinstates it.
