CBP canceled it's July 12 Webinar on the "Role of the Broker," CBP said in a July 9 email. The subject of the Webinar was "Continuing Education." The Webinar was one of several CBP is hosting as part of a review and update of 19 CFR Parts 111 rules. CBP didn't say if it would be rescheduling the Webinar. House Democrats renewed efforts on their “Make it in America” agenda July 9, urging passage for several bills hoped to add U.S. manufacturing jobs. Several of the bills named in a press release from House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) as part of the agenda are trade related.

Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) was updated July 5 with 97 rulings, bringing the total number of searchable rulings to 171,929. The most recent ruling is dated 6/29/2012 12:00:00 AM.
President Barack Obama signed HR-4348, which extends funding for surface transportation programs for two years, during a July 6 ceremony with construction workers, the White House said in a press release. The legislation includes some new financial requirements for domestic transport brokers but largely exempts brokers dealing with international trade.
CBP ACEopedia for July 2012 provides an update to progress in ACE to date. The update on progress was the biggest changes between the new ACEopedia and previous versions.

In the July 5, 2012 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (Vol. 46, No. 28), CBP published two notices that propose to revoke two rulings and similar treatment regarding the tariff classification of one ounce plastic cups and LED task light kits.
CBP said several Importer Security Filing (ISF) messages submitted on June 29 were accepted and returned without a transaction number. CBP processed those submissions again July 6 in order to generate a transaction number back to the filer, it said in a CSMS message.
