Schumer Seeks ‘Path Forward’ on TikTok

When the Senate returns from its two-week recess on April 8, it will have an opportunity to “work on a path forward on TikTok legislation” in addition to addressing a host of other matters, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said April 5 in a “Dear Colleague” letter.

The House in mid-March passed a bill that would require China’s ByteDance to divest the popular social media application (see 2403050063), but some senators have expressed constitutional concerns about that approach (see 2403150042).

Schumer said the Senate's upcoming "busy agenda" will also include efforts to "outcompete the Chinese government." He didn't elaborate.
