Amazon Plans 'Thousands' of Offers for Cyber Monday 'Deals Weekend'
Amazon promised “thousands” of discounted items for Cyber Monday “deals weekend” running Saturday-Monday. Prime members get 30 minutes of early access to the “hottest Lightning Deals” on Amazon.com, said the e-commerce leader's Monday preview.
Thousands of deals will also be available from independent selling partners, most of them small and medium-sized businesses, including deals from women-owned, Black-owned, and military family-owned businesses, Amazon said.
Cyber Monday will feature livestream events showcasing deals, product demonstrations, “try-on hauls” and live chats hosted by celebrities and influencers, Amazon said. The live shopping feed is also available on the Amazon Live Shopping app on Fire TV, it said. Other sources of gift suggestions are Amazon’s Holiday Toy List, Oprah’s Favorite Things list, a customers' favorites guide and an expert’s gift guide with picks from celebrities.
Leading electronics deals, with discounts up to 33%, will be available for LG, Samsung and Sony TVs, Amazon said; Bose, JBL and Sony headphones will be discounted; and customers can save up to 30% on HP monitors, laptops and all-in-one PCs. Nixplay digital picture frames will see a 34% price cut, and the tag on Nintendo Switch Pro controllers will drop $20 for the period. A MYNT3D printing 3D pen will be slashed $25, it said.
Amazon devices will take their usual price shaves: 47% on the Echo Show 5, up to 45% on the Halo fitness tracker, 40% on Kindle, up to 28% on Kindle Paperwhite Kids, up to 40% on Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet, 36% on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and up to 30% on an Amazon Fire TV 50-inch 4-Series TV.
On the content side, Prime members can save up to 50% on movies and TV shows during the Cyber weekend sale. New Prime customers get this season’s NBA League Pass and NBA Team Pass subscriptions for half off, following a seven-day free trial, Amazon said.
Combining its hardware and software offerings, Amazon is giving new Amazon Music Unlimited customers three months free with the purchase of select Echo smart speakers. It’s also offering 40% off a one-year subscription to the Wondery+ podcast service and 59% off an annual membership to IMDbPro, an entertainment industry information service.
To accommodate customers who shopped early to avoid port congestion issues, Amazon extended the product return window to Jan. 31 for products purchased Oct. 1-Dec. 31. The e-tailer made investments in technology, supply chain planning, transportation and delivery teams to prepare for the holiday shopping season, including plans to add 125,000 full- and part-time roles, plus an additional 150,000 seasonal jobs. Average starting wage is $18 per hour, with sign-on bonuses up to $3,000, and an additional $3 hourly “depending on shifts” in many locations, it said.
