Chipmaker Ams Sampling Integrated Proximity Sensor for True Wireless Earbuds
Semiconductor company Ams is sampling an integrated proximity sensor for true wireless earbuds. The TMD2636 occupies 30% less space than current solutions, enabling an earbud to accommodate multiple proximity sensors for improved reliability or to add new functionality, said the company Tuesday. Reliable proximity detection performed by one or more of the sensors allows the earbud to automatically power up when inserted in the ear and power down when removed, which improves battery efficiency, it said.
