CBP Seeks Comment on Info Collection for Customs Broker Forms
CBP is seeking comments by Oct. 26 on an existing information collection request on customs broker triennial reports, applications for broker permits and licensing exams, it said in a notice Aug. 27. CBP proposes to extend the expiration date of this information collection with no change to the burden hours or the information collected.
3124 and 3124E
The information contained in Part 111 of the CBP regulations (19, Code of Federal Regulations) governs the licensing and conduct of customs brokers. An individual who wishes to take the broker exam must complete the electronic application CBP Form 3124E, “Application for Customs Broker License Exam,” or to apply for a broker license, CBP Form 3124, “Application for Customs Broker License.”
CBP Estimates
For CBP Form 3124E, CBP estimated 2,300 total annual responses, estimated to create about 2,300 total annual burden hours. For CBP Form 3124, CBP estimated 750 total annual responses, estimated to create about 750 total annual burden hours. For CBP Triennial Reports, CBP estimated 4,550 total annual responses, estimated to create about 2,275 total annual burden hours. For CBP broker permit applications, CBP estimated 200 total annual responses, estimated to create about 200 total annual burden hours.
Comments Requested on Ways to Minimize Burden, Etc.
CBP is asking for comments from the public and other federal agencies on (a) whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) accuracy of the agency’s estimates of the burden of the collection of information; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility and clarity of the information to be collected; and (d) ways to minimize the burden, including the use of automated collection techniques or the use of other forms of information technology.
