Canadian Government Notices as of June 27
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of June 27 (some may also be given separate headlines):
- Amendments to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The Canada Border Services Agency on June 26 issued Customs Notice 18-07, amending the Jan. 1, 2018, version of the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The amendment contains rate of duty reductions in the Canada-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Free Trade Agreement that become effective July 1, 2018, as well as changes to the Iceland Tariff (IT), Norway Tariff (NT) and Switzerland-Liechtenstein Tariff (SLT) tariff treatments.
- CBSA issues notice of final determinations for certain dry wheat pasta. The Canada Border Services Agency on June 26 issued a final determination of dumping and subsidizing with respect to certain dry pasta originating in or exported from Turkey. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal is continuing its inquiry into whether there is injury to the domestic industry. It will issue a finding by July 26. CBSA will add information in a Statement of Reasons to be available within 15 days of its determination.
- Product Recalls: Home Hardware Stores Ltd. recalls Home Flexible Multi-Purpose utility gas lighters manufactured in China, for fire and burn hazards; Huish Outdoors recalls Oceanic and Hollis scuba diving regulators manufactured in Taiwan, for drowning hazard.
