Harman's Headphone Contract With Lufthansa Has 5-Year Initial Run

Harman shed more light Monday on its contract with Lufthansa for AKG noise-canceling headphones to replace Bose models in the airline’s business-class cabin, an award highlighted by CEO Dinesh Paliwal on the company’s earning webcast last week (see 1604280035). Under the contract, the AKG N60 noise-canceling headphones will be available to Lufthansa business-class customers beginning in January for an initial term of five years, said Harman. The AKG N60 NC headphones meet the aviation standards, including RTCA-DO160G, plane manufacturer specific tests, and are certified equipment for all current and new planes, including Airbus A350 and Boeing 777, said the company. It didn’t say which headphones will be used for Lufthansa’s first-class cabins. Harman will support the repair, service and replacement of headphones as needed, it said. Retail price of the N60s is $249.
