Samsung Corporate Website Touts Availability of 110-Inch Ultra HD TV
While Samsung and LG have been engaged in pre-CES jockeying over launch announcements for 105-inch curved Ultra HD TVs, Samsung’s corporate website is trumpeting global availability of the company’s 110-inch Ultra HD TV.
The site features a caption in Korean that, when translated into English using an online translator, compares the 110-inch screen size of the flat-screen TV with a king-size bed. The 110-inch model, part of the same series as Samsung’s current flagship TV in the U.S. -- the 85-inch UN85S9 ($39,997) -- was unveiled at CES 2013 as a statement piece with no firm marketing plans. On the Samsung corporate website Monday, the 110-inch TV was shown as available “in the world,” through the translator.
Robert Zahn, owner of upscale AV specialty retail store Value Electronics, Scarsdale, N.Y., said he saw the 110-inch model at CES last year and told us Monday he would be eager to carry the model if it were offered. But Zahn hasn’t received news of U.S. availability through his distributor, he told us. Samsung didn’t immediately respond to questions about availability of the 110-inch TV.
Last week, Samsung was quick to announce a 105-inch curved Ultra HD TV after LG announced its version in advance of CES. Samsung differentiated its 105-inch model with the claim it would be unveiling “the world’s first, largest and most curved 105-inch Curved UHD TV at CES 2014.”
