The South Carolina Ports Authority handled 413,818 20-foot units (TEUs) from July through September, an increase of 3.3 percent over the same quarter last year, the port said Oct. 15. The port said it approved an extra $2.7 million in funding to complete its inland port terminal in Greer, S.C., “to cover unforeseen weather and topography challenges from site construction. Regular cargo activity at the inland port should begin this week, with construction continuing through the end of the year, SCPA said. SCPA also said its board authorized preliminary engineering work for structural wharf repairs and upgrades to the Wando Welch Terminal.
