Possible Delays to New Broker License Processing, Says NCBFAA

There may be some delay in the processing of broker license applications because the FBI has stopped processing fingerprint cards for CBP's background checks, said the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America in an alert to its members. CBP will use the Global Entry System (GES) to process the fingerprint cards as it works to find a permanent solution, said the NCBFAA.

The GES technology is available in 17 of 42 ports that accept license applications: Atlanta, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Houston, JFK, Laredo, Long Beach, Miami, Nogales, Otay Mesa, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington/Dulles, said NCBFAA. Applicants in the remaining ports must contact the port personnel, which will make arrangements with another port with the GES technology, the association said..
