CBP Extends Deadline for Entries and Duties in Ports Affected by Tropical Storm
Several ports in the Gulf Coast area have been shut down as a result of a Tropical Storm in the region. The following ports have been fully or partially closed closed by the U.S. Coast Guard. Alerts on ports affected by the storm are available (here).
- New Orleans -- CBP Port administrative offices will remain open for transactions with the exception of duty collections 8/28/12 and will resume full administrative capability when conditions allow. Info (here).

As a result, CBP has extended the due dates of entries and duties at several of the ports, it said in CSMS messages. Aug. 30 is the new due date for filing entries and payment of duties originally due Aug. 28 and Aug. 29 without penalty. CBP said the new date applies to Mobile, Ala., and Pascagoula and Gulfport, Miss. ports and brokers whose service centers are located in the Mobile, Ala. area. That CSMS message is (here). Meanwhile, due to the passing of Hurricane Isaac, the Coast Guard is allowing commercial traffic in Key West, the Port of Miami, Miami River, Port Everglades, and Port of Palm Beach, subject to some conditions (here).
