CBP Adding PGA Message Set Elements to Simplified Entry Pilot

CBP is looking for volunteer importers and their filers to participate in an upcoming pilot that will combine the Simplified Entry (SE) filing with selected data elements from the Participating Government Agency (PGA) Message Set, the agency said in a CSMS message Aug. 21. The focus will be cut flowers imported by air through the Miami Airport.

The request for volunteers marks the first addition of PGA Message Set capabilities to SE, which is among the major goals CBP has set for the pilot. Filers who volunteer will need to fulfill the qualifications for SE and be able to submit the additional PGA Message CATAIR records. Once the volunteer filers have been identified, an information session will be conducted to provide specifics on the PGA Message Set data and the overall plan for this pilot.

Those interested should follow the directions for application for the Simplified Entry Pilot as detailed in the Aug. 14, 2012, FRN for new participants (FR Doc. 2012--19931). By using the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC) code numbers to identify the specific flowers imported, CBP said it hopes the shipment examination time by the CBP Agricultural Specialist will be shortened, allowing for faster overall release of the flowers.

Applications to participate in Simplified Entry and the Cut Flower Pilot must be sent via email to cbpsimplifiedprocess@dhs.gov and include a note that you wish to participate in the Cut Flower Pilot in Miami. The closing date for new participants is Sept. 4. Contact: Susan.Dyszel@dhs.gov.
