Canadian Government Notices for June 1
The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for June 1 (note that some may also be given separate headlines)
- Exemption limit. CBSA announced effective June 1, 2012 Canadian residents returning to Canada will benefit from increases to personal exemption limits to ensure making the cross border travel more convenient. (here)
- Renewal of Veterinary Biologics Establishment Licenses. The CFIA issued memorandum 2012-11 as a renewal reminder for holders of Canadian establishment licenses, product licenses, and import permits. Veterinary Biologics Establishment Licenses expire on May 31, 2012 and the new package contains forms and guides for renewal of import permits along with establishment licenses and product licenses. - Customs brokers business numbers. CBSA issued customs notice CN 12-015 that confirms that importing and brokers that are non-commercial casual and one-time commercial importers are not entitled to a business number. (here)
- Account of casual goods. CBSA issued customs notice CN12-016 which advises importers, customs brokers and service providers of the importation process when casual goods (including live animals) are imported into Canada, unaccompanied by their owner and processed through the CBSA commercial stream. - CBSA audit of currency seizures. The CBSA's audit committee approved an audit of currency seizures as part of the three year risk based audit plan for fiscal year 2010-2011 to 2012-2013. (here)
- Canada-US air cargo agreement. The Canadian and U.S. governments announced that both governments have reached a mutual agreement on the recognition and cooperation on air cargo security in both countries. (here)

- Product Recalls. Coffee pots of certain Black & Decker Spacemaker 12 cup programmable under the cabinet coffee makers manufactured in China (here)
